The Ghana Enterprises Agency has launched the second phase of the YouStart Ghana Jobs and skills Project, outlaying a GHC 51 million grant to support 4,174 youth-led businesses across Ghana.
This phase, titled the “Biggest Grant and Mentoring Expo,” train to authorize young entrepreneurs with both funding and mentorship, enabling them to scale their businesses and drive economic growth.
The initiative was celebrated at a grant-signing ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre, marking a key milestone in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to tackle youth unemployment through entrepreneurship.
The YouStart initiative, with its comprehensive approach, is part of a larger government strategy to equip youth-led businesses with essential skills and resources, underscoring the government’s dedication to youth empowerment as a key driver of national progress.
Over 4,000 young business owners will benefit from financial support and tailored mentorship in business management, financial literacy, digital marketing, and market expansion.
Chief Executive Officer of the GEA, Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, highlighted the program’s importance, emphasizing beyond financial aid, and also reflecting the government’s belief in the potential of youth to transform the economy.
She made a remarkable statement that this event represents a commitment to the future of our country and also built on the dreams of our young entrepreneurs.
The Chief of Staff Mad. Frema Osei-Opare, praised the project and Ghana’s development partners, including the World Bank, for their role in fostering youth-driven economic development. She noted, “Investing in our young people is an investment in Ghana’s future”.
This holistic support system is designed to nurture sustainable businesses that contribute to Ghana’s economic progress.
