Ghana has five African Footballer of the Year awards, including three in a row for Abedi Pele between 1991 and 1993, whose son Dede Ayew was third in 2015.
Ibrahim Sunday (Ghana & Asante Kotoko) claimed the award in 1971.
Abdul Razak (Ghana & Asante Kotoko), who won the 1978 African best player.
The African Footballer of the Year was first established by France Football magazine 54 years ago, with CAF taking over the award in 1992.
