The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, participated in a Ministerial panel at the AmCham Business Summit in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire .
The summit, hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Africa Business Center, on Wednesday, 14th May 2025 brought together key stakeholders to discuss critical issues in Africa’s mineral development.
The Minister emphasized the importance of policy alignment to ensure value addition in green minerals development, technology transfer, and sustainable mining practices.
“Our discussions highlighted the need for policies that promote responsible mineral development, benefiting both investors and host countries in Africa,” he said.
The Minister noted that elevating sustainable mining practices is crucial for enhancing global competitiveness.
“Fostering public-private partnerships emerged as a key strategy to drive innovation and investment in the sector,” he added.
The summit also underscored the need for diversifying supply chains to enhance resilience in the global market.
“This dialogue highlighted the potential for collaborative efforts to advance critical minerals development, contributing to broader economic growth and sustainability in both the U.S. and Africa”, he said.
The Minister’s participation in the summit reinforced the importance of international cooperation in promoting sustainable mineral development and economic growth.
