Prince Yaw Owusu has relinquished his role as the interim coach of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko as the season nears its end.
The former Okwawu United tactician was appointed as a stop-gap coach for the Porcupine Warriors in February 2026 after Karim Zito’s departure.
Since taking over the club, Prince Owusu has struggled to grind result for the record league holders, leading to calls for his sacking by a section of the club fans.
But Kotoko in a statement has confirmed the departure of Prince Owusu, stating his decision is in the best interest of the club.
“Interim Head Coach Prince Yaw Owusu has stepped down from his role with immediate effect. The coach stated in his resignation letter that his decision was taken in the greatest interest of the club.
“Management expresses its sincere appreciation to Coach for his service, dedication, and commitment during his time with the club, and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours,” parts of the statement from Kotoko said.
Meanwhile, Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng has been asked to take charge of Asante Kotoko for the remaining games of the season.
