Mr. John Arthur, the Deco Manager at Kasapreko in Asamankese, celebrated his birthday today in a remarkable way—by giving back to the people of Asamankese in the Eastern Region. Instead of spending the day alone or only with friends, he chose to provide a meaningful gift to the ucommunity.
Recognizing the daily struggles of market women, drivers, and other residents, Mr. Arthur took it upon himself to enroll them in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for free. Whether they already had insurance or had lost it, everyone in the community was included. He explained that many people do not have the time or opportunity to register online, so he wanted to make it accessible to all, as a way of giving back to those who “provide the food on our tables.”

This initiative is not new for Mr. Arthur as last year, he focused on helping pregnant women and children with health insurance. However, this year, he decided to expand the support to include all residents of Asamankese. He also encouraged others to find ways to help those in need, noting that acts of kindness can take many forms beyond health insurance, and that everyone can contribute to the well-being of others.
Market women and drivers expressed their gratitude, praising Mr. Arthur’s generosity and good heart. Many prayed for his continued success, saying that his business would grow so he could continue his annual tradition of giving back. Others thanked him personally, emphasizing how much his efforts meant to them.

Mr. Arthur’s gesture is a shining example of community support and selfless giving, showing how individual actions can positively impact many lives.
He was later presented with a citation for his contribution to the health needs of the people in Asamankese and beyond.
