Francis Nyuzaghi, the Council Chairman of the Public Service Workers Union, has disclosed that the ongoing migration process concerning staff of the National Identification Authority (NIA) is currently at its final stage, with the matter now before the Ministry of Finance for approval.
Speaking on Bryt FM’s morning show “Adekyee Mu Nsem,” Mr. Nyuzaghi explained that the migration exercise involves three key state institutions, all of which play important roles in ensuring the successful implementation of the process.
According to him, the Public Services Commission has already completed its part of the work regarding the migration exercise. He stated that the commission carried out the necessary administrative procedures and recommendations required for the process to move forward.
He further noted that the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission has also completed its assignment by reviewing and developing the salary structure for the affected workers. After concluding its work, the commission submitted its final report to the Ministry of Finance for consideration and approval.
Mr. Nyuzaghi emphasized that the Ministry of Finance now remains the final institution responsible for granting financial clearance for the implementation of the migration process. He explained that once the ministry approves the financial aspect, it will issue an authorization letter to the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to begin the payment process for NIA staff.
According to him, the report currently lies before the Ministry of Finance awaiting action. He expressed optimism that the ministry would soon complete its processes to allow workers to enjoy the benefits associated with the migration exercise.
He said the successful completion of the migration process would help improve the conditions of service and welfare of workers at the National Identification Authority. Mr. Nyuzaghi also called for patience among staff members, assuring them that efforts are being made to ensure that the process is completed successfully.
The Public Service Workers Union has over the years continued to advocate for better working conditions and improved salary structures for public sector workers across the country.
