Labour Consultant and Employment Expert, Austin Gamey, has advised young Ghanaian women to avoid prostitution and instead pursue legitimate economic activities within the country.
According to Mr. Gamey, many young girls who travel to neighbouring African countries in search of better opportunities often end up engaging in prostitution and other risky activities.
Speaking on the Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem Morning Show with Kwamina Sam Biney, Mr. Gamey encouraged the youth to explore opportunities in agriculture and trading, particularly in products such as ginger, pepper, tomatoes, and other commodities with high demand in the Ghanaian market.
“You can start with something small to support yourself. I do not use the word lazy,” he stated.
Mr. Gamey’s comments follow a recent disclosure by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that twenty-eight Ghanaian nationals, mostly young people, were rescued from a human trafficking network in Côte d’Ivoire.
According to the Ministry, the victims were rescued through a joint operation involving security agencies and officials of the Ghana Embassy in Abidjan before being safely repatriated to Ghana.
