The president of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo has made it clear that, currently, all children who are in school studying are in conditions of safety. This has taken place, despite the outcry and opposition of some.
According to him, the government is doing all it can to make sure that the future of Ghanaian children is not jeopardized by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“All over the world, governments were forced to shut down schools as we did. However, we took steps to make sure our children’s education wasn’t truncated,” he added.
Nana Addo made this statement when delivering his first state of the Nations Address in his second term on Tuesday, 9th March 2021.
“We will fulfil our campaign manifesto promise by removing the guarantor mechanism that prevents many students from benefitting from the Students Loan program,” he said.
“I want to thank parliament for passing the Education Regulatory Bodies Act. We are building 32 TVET institutions across the country to augment existing infrastructure for the delivery of TVET”
“A key objective of our efforts to improve quality education is to maintain the integrity of our examinations and assessment. Government, working through WAEC, will bring new measures to curb exam malpractices and leakages” he added.
