The High Court has ordered a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election within 30 days, sparking widespread celebration among NDC supporters.
His Lordship Emmanuel Brew Plange issued the verdict, which declared the previous results in December 2024 null and void and ordered voters in the Kpandai Constituency to vote again.
In response to the ruling, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections, Rashid Tanko, often known as Computer, expressed sincere thanks to the court for “giving the people of Kpandai justice.”
According to him, the decision reinforces the NDC’s long-held belief that certain electoral officers attempted to distort the people’s will.
“We have said it several times that some crooked electoral officers are bent on stealing the people’s mandate, and today one of them has been fully exposed,” he stated.
The NDC should have won the Kpandai seat in the 2024 elections, according to Rashid Tanko, but it was “rigged through fraudulent collusion.” He charged that compromised officers and their political allies had planned a result that did not accurately represent the votes cast.
He referenced CI 127’s requirements, specifically Regulation 43 (1A–H), which describes the correct process for compiling parliamentary results.
“Collation is done using Forms 1C and 1D, you assemble all polling station results on Form 1C, transfer them to Form 1D, and then declare. But this was never done. They simply gathered themselves, ran to Tamale, cooked results, and announced a fake MP,” he alleged.
In order to recover what he called a stolen mandate, Tanko stressed that the NDC took the legal path.
“We are the most lawful political party in Ghana. We followed due process, and today the courts have delivered the correct verdict,” he said.
Rashid Tanko warned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to run in the next by-election if they wanted to continue to be respected by Ghanaians.
“I want to appeal to our opponents: do not come for the re-run. If you do, we will hand you a heavy defeat. If you want to save your remaining dignity before the people of Ghana, just stay away,” he declared.
