NPP communicator and lawyer Kwasi Kwarteng has questioned the effectiveness of the government’s education pledges, claiming they fall well short of expectations.
He maintained that a number of the education sector’s key promises are still mostly unmet.
He cited programs like “Bright Beginnings,” “Furniture for All,” “improving the textbook ratio,” and “reforms in Free SHS funding” as instances that, in his opinion, have not been carried out correctly.
“Introduce Bright Beginnings… it’s not done. Furniture for All, not done. Improve textbooks ratio, also not done,” he said on Joy News AM Show.
He also voiced reservations about the Free SHS policy, claiming that decentralization of food procurement has not materialized and that there is currently no obvious sustainable funding source.
“Decentralize procurement of food for SHS, it’s also not done,” he added.
According to Kwarteng, only roughly 7–10% of the education agenda has been delivered altogether.
“If Haruna, with all his experience, has only delivered about 7–10 percent of promises, then something is wrong,” he said.
