The Minister for Energy has received the final report of the investigative committee tasked with examining the circumstances surrounding the recent fire incident at the Akosombo Substation.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Minister expressed appreciation to the committee, chaired by Ing. Amuna, for what he described as their diligence, professionalism, and commitment in carrying out the assignment.
According to the Minister, government will undertake a thorough review of the report and implement the necessary measures to address its recommendations.
“Our focus remains on ensuring accountability where required, preventing future occurrences, and safeguarding the integrity of the national electricity transmission system,” the Minister stated.
As part of efforts to strengthen the country’s power infrastructure, the Minister disclosed that relevant institutions have already been directed to develop and implement a comprehensive action plan.
The plan is expected to include enhanced safety protocols, infrastructure upgrades, improved risk management measures, and periodic audits of critical power installations across the country.
The Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to maintaining a stable and secure electricity supply while continuously improving systems that support national development.
He further assured the public that additional information would be provided after government completes its review of the report and determines the appropriate course of action.
The fire incident at the Akosombo Substation raised concerns about the resilience and safety of key components within Ghana’s electricity transmission network, prompting the establishment of the investigative committee to determine its cause and recommend preventive measures.
