Kwadwo Poku, an energy analyst and past presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has asserted that the party will stay strong even if former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong decides to depart.
His words coincide with escalating tensions inside the opposition party as some members have called for Mr. Agyapong to be disciplined for remarks they feel could harm the party’s chances of winning future elections.
Recently, Mr. Agyapong warned that persistent attempts to brush off his worries might force him to provide more information and emphasized that he would not be bullied or silenced by internal criticism.
“NPP should be careful with me, saying I am bitter. If they provoke me, I will spill the beans all over the place,” he cautioned.
In an interview with Eyewitness News on Monday, June 22, Mr. Poku acknowledged Kennedy Agyapong’s prominence within the NPP but emphasized that the party is more than any one person.
He cited what he called a social experiment using a famous symphonic musician in New York to make his case.
“There is a social experiment in New York. There is a man who plays symphony there. Anytime he plays, you cannot get a ticket because the wealthy in New York buy his tickets. The same man was put at the subway and was asked to play, but nobody gave him money while he played there,” Mr. Poku said.
