The founder and coach of a Bright Stars football academy in Pokrom a Community in Akuapem South District in the Eastern region has been shot dead by unknown gunmen.
Fredrick Kweku Gyan, 35, who was also a Proprietor of a private school in the community, was shot dead by unknown assailants on August 27, 2021, at about 10:00pm when he was entering his house up return from town.
According to the local Police, they received information about the incident at about 10:45 pm hence the night patrol team was quickly dispatched.
On-the-spot investigations conducted at the scene by investigators led by Sergeant Magbenya found an empty pistol shell at the back of the house.
There were bloodstains from the entrance of the house to the sitting room.
The door leading to the sitting room was seen forcibly damaged from outside and the sitting room where the victim is believed to have been attacked had a pool of blood and substance suspected to be vomit.
A Smith & Wesson pistol, an empty magazine disengaged from its chamber, and an Apple phone were seen in the pool of blood as well as a pair of trousers.
Further investigation revealed that the victim crawled for a distance of about 150metres from his house to an adjacent house shouting for help.
A woman by the name of Doris Ansabea, an occupant of the adjacent house upon seeing the state of the victim who at that stage was being unconscious also screamed for other residents to come help rushed the victim to the hospital.
He was however pronounced dead a few hours after arriving admission at Nsawam Government hospital.
The Police investigators went to the hospital to inspect the body at the morgue which they found a physical mark of injury on the right thigh suspected to be a gunshot wound.
Meanwhile, a pistol, an empty shell, an empty magazine, and an apple phone retrieved from the scene have been retained as exhibit by the police.
According to the Aburi District Police Command, the scene of the crime has been condoned and preserved to enable crime scene experts to visit and process the scene to assist the investigation.
The body of the deceased will be conveyed to Police Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy. Further development will be communicated to you please.
