Director of Public Affairs at Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Alexander Obeng has beseeched parents and teachers to educate wards on bullying and the laws and regulations of the country.
The call follows the alleged stabbing of a Form One student of Konongo Odumase Senior High school, leading to his death.
Speaking in an interview with Abena Opokua Ahwenee on Dadi FM, the Director of Public Affairs at Ghana Police Service advised that parents and teachers should play a major role in instilling good principles in students.
“Most wards don’t know the consequences of their actions because they’re not conversant with laws of the country so they don’t know what their actions will lead them into”, he added.
According to him, the police will not sit idle for issues of bullying to persist in the country.
Speaking in the same vein, an Educationist and Educational Analyst also added that there should be severe punishment attached to bullying.
He also stressed that, the government initiate policies that will result in people getting fired from bullying other people.
Owusu Andrew also highlighted that Secondary Schools should have two policemen for security sake and also has health personnel to assist students from committing suicide due to bullying.
“There should be Policemen and health personnel to assist the students to help them in mental issues so that suicidal matters will reduce in schools”, he said
