Some taxi drivers in Abuakwa North municipality in the Eastern region shocked participants of this year’s Independence Day parade after they took part in the constitutional exercise with a fleet of Taxis.
Photos emerging indicate that the taxi drivers drive their taxis in a convoy to also express their patriotism.
The parade ceremony held at W.B.M Zion Senior High School park in Akyem Old Tafo was under the auspices of the Ghana education and the municipal Assembly.
In Her welcome address, the municipal education Director Mrs. Abena Dwamena acknowledged the sacrifices of national heroes and heroines for their contribution to the success story of Ghana.
Speaking on the 65th independence anniversary theme “Working together bouncing back better” Hon.MCE Alhaji Bodinga entreated all to work together to bring development to the nation.
Alhaji Bodinga explained that since 2017 Ghana’s economy was one of the fastest-growing economy in the world leading to the nation becoming the largest destination for direct foreign investment in West Africa, especially in the automobile industry but Covid – 19 has derailed the progress and caused havoc on every aspect of life but with prudent economic management, the government shall absorb the shocks
Speaking on the E-levy, the MCE urged all to embrace it for the government to generate revenue to be able to deal with the negative impacts of Covid-19 and other external shocks.
Kukurantumi Presby basic school and Kukurantumi R.C JHS were adjudged best performed during the parade while Ofori Panin S.H.S and St. Paul technical came first we’re adjudged best in secondary school category.
