The NDC/Minority Caucus meeting that was supposed to address issues of dispute on a change in leadership has been postponed again.
The expulsion of Haruna Iddrisu, Muntaka Mubarak, and James Klutse Avedzi as the Caucus’ leaders and the subsequent appointment of Dr. Ato Forson as the new leader necessitated the holding of this conference.
Other appointments include Deputy Minority Leader Ellembele MP and Minority Chief Whip Kwame Agbodza MP of Adaklu.
About 70 NDC MPs have protested the choice and demanded that it be reversed.
The NDC Council of Elders, former President John Mahama, and Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin have all received petitions from the MPs.
The meeting between the Party leaders and the Caucus to resolve these concerns was scheduled for today, but it has been postponed indefinitely.
The Caucus was supposed to meet last week to discuss the same matter, but it never happened.
The postponement of the meeting was necessary, according to a source within the caucus, since the level of tension within the group was still high and neither side of the debate had softened their positions.
Again, in response to a petition to the party’s Council of Elders, a few meetings have been scheduled to settle the issue.
Some of the 70 MPs who signed a petition requesting more extensive dialogue on the topic are meeting with the Council of Elders.
Prior to the start of Parliament on February 8th, the party is attempting to calm the seas as quickly as possible.
