The Parliamentary Candidate of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Yilo Krobo Constituency, Albert Tetteh Nyakotey accompanied by Constituency Executives of the party in collaboration with officials of Ghana Health Service have embarked awareness exercise on Coronavirus alongside the distribution of hand washing facilities, sanitizers, and soaps at Klo Agogo Community.
Some of the beneficiaries of the hand washing facility were Klo Agogo Health Centre, Bethel Clinic, Agogo market Women Association, the GPRTU Executives and the various Driver Unions
“Even though places like Schools, Churches, Mosques and other places of social gathering have been closed down, closing the markets where the community economy evolves is a difficult decision. So I thought it wise to embark on this exercise to educate our mothers in the various markets on the preventive measures and donate Items such as veronica buckets, liquid soaps, tissue papers and hand sanitizers to them to enhance hygiene.”
Speaking to the Media, Mr. Albert Nyakotey explained that there was apathy among indigenes particularly market women due to low awareness on the pandemic hence were not adhering strictly to the preventive protocols of Covid-19 particularly regular hand washing hence his intervention.

He advised residents to report to the nearest health facility whenever they have fever, cold, cough, or difficulty in breathing.
Additionally, he urged residents to desist from unnecessary travels and assembly while obeying the government’s directives on the pandemic.
A Senior Midwife of the Klo Agogo Health center, Regina Kpodo who took the market women and drivers through proper procedures of hand washing, admonished them to be crusaders of hygiene in their communities and homes.
The beneficiary groups in the Klo Agogo community hailed the parliamentary candidate – Albert Nyakotey for his timely intervention to improve hygiene to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Ghana has recorded two fatalities in Covid-19 scourge whilst Health authorities have confirmed three new infections bringing the total number to twenty-seven (27) as of March 23, 2020.
Ghana recorded the first case of coronavirus in March 13, 2020.

Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo having suspended all social gatherings including Church activities and closed down schools since March 16, 2020, on Saturday, March 18, 2020, announced the closure of all borders – Land, Sea, and Air space. Also, mandatory 14 days quarantine for all permitted travelers to Ghana as part of enhanced measures to control the spread of the disease.
Experts have suggested lockdown of the National Capital Accra and Ashanti Regional Capital -Kumasi to help control the spread of the disease.
