In a recent press release, a youth activist Bola Ray Jnr made a bold statement regarding the upcoming 2024 election in Ghana.
According to Bola Ray Jnr, if the Electoral Commission of Ghana refuses to accept an independent forensic audit of the voter register, we, in the NDC will not recognize the Commission as the body to declare the election results.
Bola Ray Jnr highlighted several key issues that the NDC has uncovered in the 2024 provisional voter register. One of the major concerns raised was the discovery of 243,540 unauthorized voter transfers. These transfers were done without the knowledge of the affected voters, raising questions about the role of EC officials in the process.
Additionally, over 15,000 cases of unidentifiable voter transfer paths were identified, suggesting potential fraudulent registration or manipulation of voter data.
Another alarming discovery was the deletion of nearly 4,000 voters from the 2024 Provisional Register without valid justification.
Furthermore, approximately 2,094 voters were transferred to different polling stations but were not reflected in the Absent Voter List.
The presence of corrupt files, including missing names and photos of registered voters, also poses a significant risk to the integrity of the election.
Bola Ray Jnr emphasized that these discrepancies, errors, and irregularities threaten the credibility of the upcoming elections and undermine the constitutional right to vote.
The manipulation of the Voters’ Register not only jeopardizes the integrity of the electoral process but also poses a serious threat to Ghana’s democracy.
In light of these findings, the NDC has called for an independent forensic audit of the voter register. The party has made it clear that we will not accept any election results declared by the Electoral Commission if this call is not heeded. The NDC believes that only through a transparent and fair electoral process can the true will of the Ghanaian people be respected.
As we approach the 2024 election, it is imperative that all stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission, prioritize the integrity of the electoral process. The NDC remains committed to upholding democratic values and ensuring a free and fair election for all Ghanaian citizens.
