The Eastern Regional Director of Education, Dr. Ivy Asantewa Owusu, has strongly condemned the alleged gang rape involving eight students from Mpraeso Senior High School.
Five out of the eight students of Mpraeso SHS have been remanded in police custody for 10 days following the reported sexual assault on a female student.
This development comes after the suspects were initially discharged by the court due to discrepancies in the police charge sheet, only to be quickly rearrested and re-arraigned.
The Nkawkaw District Court, presided over by His Worship Isaac Agyei, has summoned the headmaster of Mpraeso SHS, James Affadu, to explain why the school authorities did not promptly report the incident to the police and why no school representatives were present during the court proceedings.
Furthermore, the court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of three other students involved, who remain at large.
Dr. Ivy Asantewa Owusu ,Eastern Regional Education Director publicly speaking on the incident for the first time attributed to indiscipline and immoral conduct among students, stating, “They’ve been caught, and their charge is rape. There are eight boys, and three have fled. What future do they have now? Which school will accept them, considering their records? They were handcuffed, paraded through the principal streets, and are currently in custody without bail.”
She also cautioned against inappropriate sexual relationships students,teavhwrs and students as well.
She said this when speaking as Guest of Honour during the launch of 25th anniversary of Pentecost Senior High School in Koforidua.
Pentecost Senior High School (PENSEC) in Koforidua has officially launched its 25th-anniversary celebration under the theme “25 Years of Nurturing Future Leaders of Excellence and Virtue: The PENSEC Story.”
The event, held at the school premises, marked a significant milestone in the institution’s journey since its establishment by the Church of Pentecost in February 2000.
The headmaster of PENSEC Elder Peter Atta-Gyamfi recounted the school’s growth from its humble beginnings with just 110 students and 16 staff members but now a thriving institution with over 2,000 students and 159 staff members.

The headmaster also emphasized the school’s notable achievements in academics, sports, and other extracurricular activities. He praised the students for consistently excelling in WASSCE and regional sports competitions, while also stressing the school’s focus on instilling values of integrity and discipline in its students. “Our greatest success lies in shaping young minds to meet the demands of an ever-changing world.
