Former Director of Public Relations and External Affairs at the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), Nana Yaa Jantuah, has voiced her concerns regarding the recent suspension of the Chief Justice, defending the decision under President John Mahama’s administration.
Speaking on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with host Kwahu Dehye, Jantuah maintained that the Mahama-led government is following due process, unlike what she described as the “disorderly and divided” approach of the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
According to her, the current administration has adhered to legal protocols in addressing the matter, including a review by the Council of State. She stressed the importance of establishing a prima facie case before taking such actions, in response to comments made by Ishmael Ken Korankye.
Jantuah accused the NPP of inconsistency, claiming that the party, which once declared it was on a “thank you tour,” is now leading street protests. She suggested that their current stance may be motivated by jealousy or an attempt to divert attention from internal challenges and President Mahama’s governance.
“The law is the law, no matter what you try to do,” Jantuah said, calling on political actors to respect legal processes rather than resorting to public demonstrations. She urged that instead of channeling funds into protests, political parties and activists should consider supporting vulnerable communities, including orphanages.
Jantuah concluded by emphasizing the need for unity and legal integrity as the nation prepares for the upcoming elections.
