Mr. Frederick Adu-Gyamfi, Director of Programmes and Operations at CDD-Ghana, has stated that the organization is currently in the Eastern Region as part of a regional dissemination tour.
He explained that the purpose of the tour is to present findings from research conducted by CDD-Ghana and to create awareness about local government reforms. According to him, the initiative also aims to engage citizens and gather their views on how local governance systems are functioning.
Mr. Adu-Gyamfi noted that there has been significant public discussion around local government reforms, with many individuals expressing their opinions. He added that the Constitutional Review Committee has also toured nearly all parts of the country to collect public input on the reforms, which will later be submitted to the government for consideration.
He further indicated that stakeholders are now awaiting the government’s response to these recommendations. Meanwhile, CDD-Ghana has independently assessed how local government structures and assemblies are operating, identifying gaps and areas that require improvement.
He emphasized that the dissemination programme is designed not only to share the organization’s findings with the public but also to provide a platform for citizens to contribute their perspectives on strengthening local governance in Ghana.
