The Eastern Regional Police Command, in a joint operation with the Military and National Security, has arrested eleven suspects and retrieved arms and ammunition in connection with the ongoing chieftaincy dispute at Adambrobe near Aburi in the Akuapem South Municipality.
The arrests followed intelligence-led operations initiated by the Aburi District Police Command on Sunday, May 3, 2026, during which ten suspects were apprehended.
A subsequent reinforcement operation on Monday, May 4, led to the arrest of an additional suspect, bringing the total number to eleven.
The suspects have been identified as Dawu Joseph, 32, a farmer; Evans Dekadzor, 34, a security man; Kwame Aboagye, 45, a vulcanizer; Christian Atsu, 28, a security man; Samuel Annan, 29, a security man; Thomas Davidson, 34, a security man; Abusuapanyin Owusu Paul, 56, a member of the Adambrobe Asekyere; Richard Agyekum, 35, a security man; Jerry Johnson Kwame Atilla, 42, a businessman based in Sowutuom; and Samuel Obeng, a taxi driver in Adambrobe.
The eleventh suspect, Douglas Amoako Danquah, was arrested on Monday after he was reportedly carried shoulder-high in a procession within the town, indicating he had been enstooled as a rival chief.
Briefing the media, Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP Richard Appiah, said a search conducted during the operation led to the retrieval of five unregistered pump-action rifles, 23 live cartridges, one taser, six mobile phones, and a piece of body armour.
Police also impounded two vehicles — an unregistered Ford pickup and a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 2560-19. Some of the suspects were reportedly dressed in Ghana Immigration Service camouflage uniforms at the time of their arrest.
All suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court.

The dispute in Adambrobe stems from disagreements within the royal family over who is the legitimate occupant of the stool.
The situation escalated after Ghanaian actor Mikki Osei Berko, popularly known as Master Richard or Dada Boat, was installed as chief on April 24, 2026, and given the stool name Nana Osei Boakye Yiadom II.
However, a rival faction attempted to enstool Douglas Amoako Danquah on Monday, heightening tensions in the community despite a restraining order secured by police against both factions from undertaking any enstoolment.
Police say Mikki Osei Berko and others involved in his installation are already before a court in Akropong.
The Eastern Regional Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Adambrobe and urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and refrain from acts that could escalate the conflict.
