The government has designated Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, as General National Cleaning Days across seven regions in response to the flooding that occurred on June 29.
The initiative aims to mobilize residents, local authorities, and relevant agencies to undertake intensive clean-up exercises to restore affected communities and prevent further public health risks.
The flooding, which followed heavy rains on June 29, caused significant damage in several areas, leaving debris, choked drains, and unsanitary conditions in its wake.
Authorities are urging the public to actively participate in the exercise by clearing gutters, desilting drains, and properly disposing of waste to help mitigate future flooding incidents.
Regional and municipal assemblies, in collaboration with sanitation agencies, are expected to coordinate the exercise to ensure its effectiveness.
The government emphasized that maintaining environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility and called on all citizens to support efforts to build safer and more resilient communities.
