The 1980 year group of Koforidua Secondary Technical School (SECTECH) has demonstrated its commitment to giving back by donating a range of essential items to support teaching and learning in the school.
The group presented 250 modern chairs, a 701-litre deep freezer for the Biology Department, and ultra-modern teachers’ desks. The items, valued at approximately GH¢50,000, are expected to significantly improve both academic work and general conditions within the school.

Speaking during the presentation, the President of the 1980 year group, Alexander Kesse Nyamesa, explained that the donation was made as a token of appreciation for the quality education and discipline the members received during their time at SECTECH.
According to Mr. Nyamesa, the group has consistently supported the school over the years through a series of donations, including a high-capacity photocopier and desks. He emphasized that these contributions form part of their broader commitment to giving back to their alma mater and supporting the next generation of students.

In an interview with Nhyiraba Solomon Nartey after the presentation, Mr. Nyamesa revealed that the group is planning to undertake an even larger project in the near future aimed at further enhancing teaching and learning in the school.
He expressed confidence that improved access to educational resources and infrastructure would positively impact students’ academic performance and overall development.
The Headmaster of SECTECH, Emmanuel Frempong Bedjabeng, commended the 1980 year group for their continuous support and dedication to the school. He noted that the institution had been facing a shortage of chairs, making the donation both timely and highly beneficial.

He added that such interventions from old students play a crucial role in addressing the school’s challenges and improving the learning environment for current students.
The gesture by the 1980 year group has been widely praised as a shining example of alumni giving back to support educational development.
After the donation, the group dined with the school’s management and staff at the Empire Court Hotel, sharing a warm and enjoyable afternoon filled with conversation, appreciation, and camaraderie.
