The National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Hajia Fati Forgor, has revealed that approximately 12,000 schools across Ghana are currently benefiting from the government’s flagship School Feeding Programme.
Speaking in an interview with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt Adekyee Musem on Bryt FM, Hajia Forgor said the programme continues to play a crucial role in improving school enrolment, attendance, and retention, particularly among pupils from disadvantaged communities.
She explained that the initiative targets pupils from Kindergarten to Primary Six, providing them with at least one nutritious meal each school day. According to her, the intervention was introduced to support vulnerable children, encourage regular school attendance, and enhance their concentration in the classroom.
Hajia Forgor described the School Feeding Programme as one of the government’s flagship social intervention initiatives, aimed at improving access to quality basic education while promoting the nutritional well-being of schoolchildren.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining and expanding the programme to reach more schools across the country, stressing that no child should be denied access to education because of hunger or economic hardship.
The National Coordinator expressed optimism that the continued expansion of the programme would further improve educational outcomes and contribute significantly to the holistic development of children nationwide.
