The Eastern Regional STEM Coordinator Madam Louisa Amanor has revealed that the STEM department of the region will soon role out junior high school farming competition as part of the broader vision of H.E John Dramani Mahama encouraging farming in the various educational institutions.
Addressing the media during the 2025 Eastern Regional STEM Education Camping at Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, Madam Louisa Amanor emphasized that the region’s commitment to integrate school farming competitions into STEM Education for junior high school students is not only driven by H.E President Mahama’s vision but also the Eastern Regional Education Directorate aim to revive agriculture through academia.
Madam Louisa Amanor highlighted that the 2025 STEM Education Camping served as a breaking ground for the junior high school farming competition which will be introduce soon hence schools in the various district who are already into farming were recognised with various awards to acknowledge their contributions towards agricultural sustainability.
She therefore urged parents and teachers to support children and students who show interest in farming or agriculture related courses , and also appealed to government to provide the needed agriculture tools for schools who are ready to do the farms.
Addressing the students on this year’s theme “Empowering Learners and Unlocking Full Pitentials Through Innovation and Transformative Solution” to climax the event , Louisa Amanor admonished the students to embrace Science , Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education because it is a critical necessity in driving development in every nation.
She urged the participant to study hard, be tolerant, obedient and be patient if they really want to be transformative and champions of STEM education.
This year , a student population numbered 341 junior high school students participated in the 2025 Eastern Regional STEM Camp , she indicated.
