The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested thirty-three (33) suspects as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on criminal activities before, during, and after the festive season.
The arrests followed a series of intelligence-led swoop operations carried out at the Kasoa Old Market, Awutu Breku, Gomoa Bduata, Senya Breku, and their surrounding communities. The targeted operations were conducted in the early hours of 16th and 17th December, 2025.
During the exercise, some of the suspects were found in possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and quantities of Tramadol. In addition, forty-five (45) motorbikes were impounded, and one (1) toy gun was retrieved. Police say verification and documentation checks are ongoing for all impounded motorbikes, while the arrested suspects are currently undergoing screening as part of investigations. Those found culpable will be arraigned before court to face justice.
The Police Command has also urged members of the public to observe key security precautions, including avoiding the carrying of large sums of money, moving in groups especially at odd hours, ensuring the use of crash helmets by riders, refraining from drunk driving and over-speeding, observing road traffic regulations, and avoiding movement alone in secluded areas.
In a statement signed by DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs for the Central East Region, the Command expressed appreciation to stakeholders and extended festive season greetings to residents within the jurisdiction. The statement acknowledged the public’s cooperation in the protection of life and property and the maintenance of law and order throughout the year. It also commended police officers in the region for their unwavering commitment to effective policing.
The Central East Regional Police Command further assured the public of its readiness to ensure a crime-free festive period and warned that anyone who engages in criminal activities will be arrested and made to face the full rigours of the law.
