Stigmatization against women has been condemned by traditional women leaders, especially in the heat up to the December 7 general elections.
Nana Abena Akonobea I, Amanokrom Pabrom Development Chief (Nkosuohemaa) who disclosed this to Bryt FM news, also advised women to desist from attacking each other for political gains.
According to her, discrimination against women has affected a lot as most women have hidden their aspirations due to stigmatization they may endure from the public.
Nana Akonobea I was reacting to alleged social media abuse on the personality of a parliamentary candidate for the Essikando-Ketan constituency of the Western region, Prof Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah.
Even though she could not mention the said abuse on air, she indicated it is time for Ghanaians to give women all they need support to help bring out the best in them to help in the decision making for the country’s development.
The Nkosuohemaa, was, however, quick to add that little effort is done by the successive governments in ensuring women get the needed support to also showcase what they are made of, rather than leaving them behind.
Nana Abena Akonobea I, therefore encouraged women not to be down by the current systems but continue to forge ahead to gain the recognition they deserve.
