Members of African Faith Tabernacle Church commonly known as ‘Odifo Nkansah Asore’ are accusing the District Chief Executive for Atiwa East District in the Eastern Region, Hon Kwabena Panin Nkansah, who is the chairman of Atiwa East District DISEC for using security persons to intimidate the church members any time they want to use their National headquarters mission house at Akim Anyinam.
After the death of the late leader of the church, Superior Prophet David Nkansah a year ago, two factions in the church (National trustees, and family of the late Leader), are litigating over selection of the next leader of the church
According to the church members, Abusuapanin of the late Prophet’s family, Opanin Ampadu and the DCE, Hon Kwabena Panin Nkansah, who is a relative of the late leader, always uses the policemen, and other security officers to intimidate the church members in their own premises, that’s the church National headquarters.
Addressing the media at the sidelines of the ugly event on Saturday, the National Public Relations Officer of African Faith Terbenacle Church, Chief Pastor Joseph Kwasi Rockson accused the police and district Chief Executive for Atewa East Kwabena Panin Nkansah of partiality.
He added that the members of the Church are peace loving people, so they will continue to remain calm, but when pushed, force will be applied.
He, therefore, appealed to the IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Interior minister, Ambrose Derry, and other authorities, to intervene to avert any unfortunate incident.
In addition, the National Youth President of the Church, Chief Pastor Ebenezer NkansahTwum Barima also added that leadership of the Church has chosen a leader in person of Chief Pastor Stephen Frimpong Nkansah, which must be respected.
He added that the family has no right to choose a leader for the church since it is not inheritance.
“The indigenous spiritual church, which was founded in the year 1919 and is more than 100 years old, cannot be headed by a person who is not even a member of the Church” he added.
Meanwhile, the Anyinam District Police Commander DSP Raymond Mahama Iddrisu refused the allegation and said, the police and DISEC wanted peace in the area that why they denied the Church members to hold their meeting in that premises.
