The annual retreat for Presbytery Mission and Evangelism Directors has been held at Kyebi in the Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery from Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th February 2023.
The guest speaker for this year’s retreat was Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
The purpose of the retreat was to allow the Presbytery directors to share their action plans, reflect on their work, pray for the Church, and in particular, vision 1.5 Agenda.
Rev Dr. Odonkor in an address reiterated the need for Christians to redouble their efforts to win more souls for Christ.
He encouraged the Directors to be focused on the Mission and Evangelism work of the Church, which he described as the core business of the church. He said the leadership of the Church would make resources available in order to achieve the Vision 1.5 Agenda.
Rev. Dr. Seth Kissi, Chairperson of the Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery in a speech to welcome the delegates said, the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has as its mission, to improve Church Growth through evangelism and fulfill the Great Commission as commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ and therefore urged the Presbytery Directors to carry on with this command.
The National Director of Mission and Evangelism at the General Assembly Office of the Church, Rev Dr. Emmanuel Sarbah commended the Presbytery Directors for working hard to ensure that the Church achieves the Vision 1.5 Agenda. He said the figures available show that the vision is achievable.
On Sunday, 12th February 2023, all the Presbytery Directors preached at various congregations within the Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery to raise funds to purchase motorcycles to support evangelism.
