The Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has honoured 12 retired Catechists of for their immense contributions to the growth of the Church at the ongoing Presbytery Session at Kyebi on Friday 14th April 2023.
As part of the honours, citations were presented to them. In addition to that, an undisclosed amount of money was also presented to them.
The Presbytery Chairperson Rev. Dr. Seth Kissi commended the Catechists for working tirelessly for the Presbytery and the PCG in general. He announced that all the Catechists will receive their benefits from the Presbytery endowment fund. The Presbytery in 2021 launched a 100,000 Ghana cedi endowment fund to cater for the welfare of its ministers and catechists after their retirement.
The 12 catechists are Cat. Samuel Amo-Baning of Trinity Congregation served for 37 years, Cat. Mrs. Martha Boahene of Akyem Asafo who served for 25 years, Cat. Ebenezer Tabi Bimpong of Bethel Congregation Akyem Abompe 24 years, and Cat. Peter G. Adu of Ebenezer Congregation Okaikrom in the New Abirem 15 years,
The rest are Cat. David Narh Dorkutso of James Town Congregation New Abirem, 7 years, Cat. Maxwell Boakye Boateng of Prince of Peace Congregation, Saaman, 17 years Cat. Samuel Gyekye Rev. Twum Memorial Congregation, Dwenase – Osino 17 years. Cat. Ebenezer Kwame Afoakwa Ebenezer Congregation, Agyapomaa – Kukurantumi, 15 Years, Mad. Regina Asare Afoah, Sikaneasem Preaching Point, Akwatia District, 21 Years, Cat. Andrews Anifori Peace and Love Congregation, Apampatia, Tumfa District 22 years, Cat. Benjamin Otu Atiemo Resurrection Congregation, and Bosodumase, Osiem 14 Years.
