The National Council Of Zongo Chiefs vice president, Alhaji Umar Abubakar has admonished Muslims to portray a lifestyle that will reflect the principles of Islam because they are born again.
According to him, Muslims who partook in the just ended Ramadan are cleansed and free from their sins thus, going back to their unworthy behavior won’t be pardoned.
He said Ramadan was a period of great sacrifice, patience, endurance and gratitude and that resorting to alcohol, casting of insinuations and other forms of negative practices would ruin what Islam stood for.
Alhaji Umar Abubakar who is also the president of the Eastern regional council of Zongo Chiefs again called on Muslims to desist from all forms of negative tendencies which may tarnish the image of Islam.
Alhaji Umar who made the call in an interview with Afeema FM’s journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari in Kyebi on Saturday said Ramadan inspired in Muslims the common values and experience they share as human.
The Akyem Abuakwa Council Of Zongo Chiefs president charged Zongo communities to avoid acts that could disturb the peace during the campaigns towards the 2024 general election.
He particularly advised the youth not to allow politicians to engage them for criminal or violent activities, since they are not their reserve forces to unleash violence or other unhealthy acts on innocent voters.
He noted that very often politicians mobilized some residents of Zongo communities to do “the dirty work” through vigilantism, quarrels and other unproductive activities and then neglect them after achieving their goals.
Abubakar Umar said: “They come to you and tell you to go and perpetuate violence and other acts while their own children are in school, doing good jobs or abroad working to better their lives. When these politicians come to you, ask them why they are not using their own children to do what they’re asking you to do.”
