The Ministry of Health has launched the National Health Database Platform and HEFRA’s Digitized Health Facility Assessment platforms supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Health Strengthening Accelerator Project in Ghana.
The Accelerator, a global initiative funded by the USAID and Co-funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has worked hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Health, the Health Facility Regulatory Authority, and the National Health Insurance Authority to co-create and implement innovative high-impact interventions.
Alhaji Hafiz Adam, the Chief Director of the Ministry in his address said these platforms which are being implemented by Results for Development (R4D), integrate health data across all agencies under the Ministry into a centralized dashboard, thereby offering advanced analytics capabilities that allow the ministry to visualize key health priorities and make data-driven decisions.
“The development of a National Health Database and the HeFRA’s Digitized Health Facility Assessment Platform is integral to this process of achieving Universal Health Coverage,” he affirmed.
Launching the platforms, Hon. Dr Bernard Okoe Boye Minister for Health in a speech read on his behalf revealed that, the Acceleration project has delivered remarkable outcomes across several critical areas in the health sector such as; Health Sector Planning and Assessment, Health Insurance and Service Expansion, Strengthening Primary Healthcare, Digitalization and Data Management and regulatory reforms.
To him, one of the most significant contributions of the Accelerator project has been its support in developing our Health Sector Medium Term Development Plan (2022-2025).
“This plan has provided a vital roadmap for our Ministry and its agencies, ensuring that we stay on course to deliver high-quality essential health services to every Ghanaian,” he added.
The Minister, on behalf of the government of Ghana, acknowledged the USAD, the Bill Gate and Melinda Foundation, R4D and all other partners for their contribution to this transformative journey and charged that there should be a continuous collaboration to ensure that every Ghanaian has access to the healthcare they need and deserve.
