The Zango community in Koforidua is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a series of activities aimed at promoting unity, social responsibility, and long-term development. The golden jubilee, scheduled to begin on June 12, 2026, will bring together residents, stakeholders, and well-wishers to reflect on the community’s journey and chart a path for the future.
Chairman of the anniversary planning committee, Ibrahim Osman Mohamed, said the celebration is not only a time for festivity but also an opportunity to give back and strengthen communal bonds. He emphasized that the milestone will be marked by initiatives that directly impact the lives of residents, particularly the vulnerable.
“As we celebrate how far Allah has brought us, we are also committed to supporting one another and building a stronger future,” he noted.
A key highlight of the anniversary will be a community-wide effort to care for the elderly, recognizing their contributions and ensuring their wellbeing. Support will be extended to the needy through donations and outreach programmes designed to uplift disadvantaged members of the community.
The celebration will commence with a tree-planting exercise, symbolizing growth, environmental responsibility, and a commitment to sustainability. Organizers say this initiative aligns with broader plans to introduce measures that will drive sustainable development within the community.
Another major focus will be investing in the youth, particularly in the area of higher education. Plans are underway to provide educational support and opportunities aimed at empowering young people to achieve academic and professional success.
Community leaders also indicated that the anniversary will serve as a platform to introduce new strategies for development, ensuring that progress in the Zongo community is both inclusive and sustainable.
The 50th anniversary celebration is expected to attract dignitaries, residents, and visitors from across Ghana, making it a significant moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to community growth.
