Deputy Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has stressed that the policies and programmes contained in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto are not designed to benefit only members and supporters of the party, but are intended to serve the interests of all Ghanaians.
Speaking on Bryt Adekyee mu Nsem, Dr. Ayensu-Danquah explained that although the NDC presented the manifesto to the Ghanaian electorate and received votes from its supporters, the implementation of the policies would benefit citizens regardless of their political affiliation.
According to her, Ghana is made up of people belonging to different political parties, including the NDC, New Patriotic Party (NPP), Convention People’s Party (CPP), and other political groups, as well as citizens who do not belong to any political party.
She said the fact that the NDC is in government does not mean that the benefits of its policies and programmes would be restricted to NDC supporters.
Dr. Ayensu-Danquah noted that when the NDC presented its manifesto to Ghanaians, it did not promise to develop the country or provide services only to people who would vote for the party. Rather, the commitments were made with the broader interest of Ghana and its citizens in mind.
She explained that the manifesto contains plans and policies that outline what the party intends to do when given the opportunity to govern, and the implementation of those plans has implications for the entire country.
She therefore urged Ghanaians to understand that government policies are national policies and should be viewed from the perspective of their impact on the country’s development rather than through partisan lenses.
The Deputy Minister further emphasized that citizens who voted for different political parties are all Ghanaians and therefore have equal rights to benefit from national development.
She said the government’s responsibility is to work for the welfare of the people and improve the living conditions of citizens irrespective of their political background.
Dr. Ayensu-Danquah made the remarks while speaking on Bryt Adekyee mu Nsem, where she discussed the NDC’s manifesto and its expected impact on the Ghanaian population.
