National Democratic Congress (NDC) regional secretary king Sallam has declared that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would not make it pass 42% in the northern region in the upcoming election.
He made this assertion in an interview with Abena Pokuaa Ahwenee, on Dadi FM, 101.1 when he was asked to rate the percentage of the vote that the NPP is likely to attain in the Northern Region.
The president recently paid a visit to the Northern Region but king Sallam claims that the people are not even excited about his arrival as everyone is going by their normal duties.
He said that the president, Nana Akuffo Addo is fond of making empty promises and the people of the Northern Region have realized that.
He added that most of the promises the NPP made to the people have not been accomplished and the ones the former president, John Dramani Mahama began has been abandoned or completed halfway.
“The NPP went Kologu to build a multipurpose dam if you remember, they promised that work on the dam will commence in April but it’s been 9 months down the line, there’s no dam like they promised”, he argued.
King Sallam disclosed that the NPP is aware of their empty promises to the people of Northern Ghana and that is why he has begun cutting sods in some parts of the region so that they can attract praises from the people because of the election is almost due.
He admitted that the only project the president and his people have been able to accomplish in the Northern Region is the overpass they built in Tamale.
He went on to say that this government is full of the deceit of lies, in his own words” this government can promise you a smartphone and deliver a “yam” to you”.
According to king Sallam, it will be quite hard for the NPP to achieve more than he has estimated, and even with the 42% they can only achieve it when they work extra hard else the percentage will even drop.
He refuted the assertion by Yendi NPP Member of Parliament, Habib, that the NPP can attain 65% in the Northern Region by saying that the estimated percentage which is 42% is not even concrete as the NPP can’t win in the Northern region.
“They might get 35% if they don’t work harder in the Northern Region”, he said.
