National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has expressed at activities of some government health facilities illegally selling drugs under the policy to patients instead of giving them out free.
It has also spoken against health facilities for inflating prices of drugs given to patients under the insurance cover.
New Juaben South Municipality Public Relations Officer of the NHIA, Joseph Nii Commey told the media at the launch of Special Registration and Mobile Renewal Exercise in Koforidua said the actions of such facilities is undermining the purpose of the policy aimed to proven accessible health care for all.
He added, the exercise is expected to afford drivers and their assistants, passengers and shop attendants the opportunity to have easy access to the renewal of their expired cards.
He, however, advised the general public to desist from chastising the policy as it has been transformed with health facilities been paid of their accumulated claims.
Meanwhile, some of the subscribers who spoke to the media, commended authorities for the intervention as it would go a long way to deal with long queues people have to follow to renew their cards at the various offices.
The exercise would be done at all major lorry stations in Koforidua, schools under the school feeding program as well as various communities within the municipality.
