Professor Kwesi Hannah, Deputy Education minister in-charge of Tertiary, has emphasized on government’s commitment to the infrastructural development of tertiary schools across the country.
According to him, the introduction of the Free SHS policy by the Akufo-Addo led government has become necessary for schools to improvement in infrastructure as the first batch of students are expected to enroll in the various tertiary schools.
Professor Kwesi Yankah made the comments at a sod-cutting ceremony to construct 4.5 kilometers of inner roads within the school at the SDA College of Education in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern region on Tuesday.
The Deputy Minister added that the capacity of teachers are also been built to ensure the quality of teaching and learning in all schools.
The Principal of the College, Professor William Kofi Koomson was grateful to the government for the project and many others seem to uplift the facelift of the institution.
He noted that the project when completed will help easy access of both staff and students and also solve the many health challenges dust from the roads have on them.
“We requested the construction of the roads when I assumed into office in 2018 and here we are today cutting sod for the project” he stressed.
The Abakomahene of Asokore, Nana Agyenim Boateng who represented the Chief of Asokore in his speech also expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government for improving the facelift of the school.
He indicated the school has been beneficial to lots of teachers and other personalities across the country due to its academic performance and was optimistic putting up the necessary infrastructure would go a long way to improve teaching and learning.
The short ceremony was also attended by the Municipal Chief Executives for New Juaben North and South, Madam Comfort Asante, and Mr. Isaac Apaw Gyasi, Municipal Directors of Education, students, traditional leaders, and some members of the community.
The project is to elapse for one year, according to the contractor.
