Mahamudu Bawumia, vice president, expressed confidence in winning the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer election scheduled for November 2023.
He claimed that he would exceed Ghana’s eight-year presidential term limit and that he would move into the exclusive Jubilee House in 2025.
Dr. Bawumia thanked the devoted fans for their enduring support as he spoke to the throng with Volta Regional Minister Dr. Archibald Letsa.
Proclaiming to resounding cheers and applause, he stated, “I want you to know that I appreciate your support, we are going to break the eight. Firstly, we are going to have to go and file for the flagbearership, which I am going to do.”
This declaration is extremely important since it marks a significant change in the NPP’s internal politics as preparations for the forthcoming 2024 presidential elections heat up.
The significance of Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy was underscored on May 30, 2023, when his campaign team, which included Sammi Awuku, Fred Oware, and Ayisi Boateng, obtained his nomination papers from the party’s headquarters. His goals have significantly gathered pace as he is widely considered as one of the frontrunners in the race.
Dr. Bawumia has just started a comprehensive national campaign, meeting with party leaders, supporters at the grassroots level, and powerful individuals in various localities.
The Vice President’s campaign has focused on displaying his strong track record in carrying out important government initiatives, including as the fruitful One-District-One-Factory project and the game-changing Planting for Food and Jobs program.
Dr. Bawumia’s will to win the flagbearership contest is supported by his ambition to serve longer than the customary eight-year tenure, signifying a new era of leadership and advancement. He stressed the value of unflinching support from his followers as he sought to take the highest position in the nation.
