Former Suhum district MP Frederick Opare-Ansah has denied allegations made by Kennedy Agyapong that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has given out pickup trucks to persuade delegates to support him in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential election on November 4.
Mr. Opare-Ansah claims to have seen a film in which Kennedy Agyapong accuses the Vice President of using pickups to induce delegates, but he calls the accusations “white lies.”
But he pointed out that providing pickups for political purposes is a custom, so he questioned why Mr. Agyapong would make a big deal out of it.
During an interview with Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning program presenter Nana Yaw Kesseh, Mr. Opare-Ansah cautioned Kennedy Agyapong to desist from misrepresenting the Vice President.
“Who goes into a national campaign in Ghana who doesn’t buy pickups and distribute them for the purpose of prosecuting his campaign?”, he questioned.
Additionally, he charged Kennedy Agyapong with buying pickups for each member of his campaign crew equally, mentioning that one of them—whom he identified as “Chairman Short”—had previously given him a ride in the truck with the campaign’s logo.
“Kennedy Agyapong, himself, has bought a pickup for the Tamale North Chairman, Chairman Short. He has bought a pickup for the Assistant Secretary of Savannah. He has bought a pickup for the Assistant Secretary of Upper East. I can go on and on to mention the names of his people that he has bought pickups for, and all this was before the Special Delegates Election,” he disclosed.
“The propagation of lies, raw lies, which lead people to begin to think in a certain way about our party is not good. I have seen a video in which my big brother, Ken, claims we distributed pickups to people and so forth; all of these are white lies.” He added.
