A delegation from the Bono Regional House of Chiefs on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama at the Presidency, where discussions centered on regional development, peace, and the role of traditional authorities in nation-building.
During the meeting, President Mahama emphasized the need for the swift resolution of chieftaincy disputes across the country, stressing that peace, stability, and unity remain essential ingredients for sustainable development.
He urged traditional leaders to continue utilizing the appropriate customary and judicial mechanisms to address outstanding disputes and maintain harmony within their respective communities.
The President noted that resolving conflicts within traditional areas would create an enabling environment for accelerated socio-economic growth and improved living conditions for residents.
President Mahama also reiterated the government’s commitment to the development of the Bono Region. He highlighted ongoing and planned investments in critical sectors, including road infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and local economic development, under key government initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
According to the President, government recognizes the important role traditional authorities play in promoting development and social cohesion, and will continue to collaborate closely with them to advance the national development agenda.
He assured the chiefs of his administration’s unwavering support and partnership in efforts to strengthen unity, foster development, and improve the quality of life of the people of the Bono Region.
The visit forms part of ongoing engagements between the Presidency and traditional leaders aimed at deepening collaboration for national development and community empowerment.
