The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South Municipality, Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, has cut sod for the construction of a community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Simpoamiensa.
The project forms part of the Municipal Assembly’s 2025 development agenda aimed at improving access to quality healthcare, particularly for residents in underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Boakye reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery.
He noted that the CHPS compound, when completed, will offer essential services such as maternal and child healthcare, disease prevention, and health education. This, he said, will significantly reduce the need for residents to travel long distances to access basic medical care.
In a related development, the MCE also cut sod for the drilling and mechanization of six boreholes across the municipality. The beneficiary communities include Kantudu, Tanoso, Old Estate, Adweso Health Center, the Social Welfare enclave, and Nyamekrom.
He explained that the provision of potable water is critical to improving public health, as it will help reduce waterborne diseases while promoting better hygiene and sanitation practices.
Hon. Boakye called on residents to support contractors and take ownership of the projects to ensure their sustainability.
Residents who attended the ceremony expressed gratitude to the Assembly for responding to their needs and pledged their cooperation towards the successful completion and maintenance of the facilities.
