The National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Hajia Fati Forgor, has reaffirmed that the School Feeding Programme was established to support needy pupils by providing them with nutritious meals and encouraging them to remain in school.
Speaking in an interview with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt Adekyee Musem on Bryt FM, Hajia Forgor said the initiative has become a critical social intervention that is helping to improve school attendance, reduce hunger, and enhance learning outcomes among children, particularly those in underserved communities.
She explained that by providing at least one hot meal each school day, the programme not only addresses hunger but also eases the financial burden on parents and guardians, enabling more children to access and remain in basic education.
According to Hajia Forgor, the School Feeding Programme continues to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable pupils by creating a conducive learning environment where children can concentrate on their studies without the distraction of hunger.
She emphasized that the programme remains one of the government’s key interventions aimed at promoting equitable access to education and improving the welfare of schoolchildren across the country.
Hajia Forgor reiterated the government’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening the programme to ensure that more vulnerable pupils benefit from the initiative and no child is deprived of education because of poverty or hunger.
