Health Minister Kwabena Akandoh has advised Ghanaians to seek professional medical attention anytime they feel poorly rather than self-medicating.
He stated that symptoms can vary and that individuals may not always be able to diagnose themselves.
He listed headaches, unexplained bleeding, vomiting, and muscle soreness as some of the warning symptoms that individuals should not overlook.
However, he emphasized that the overall message is straightforward.
“Any time you are not feeling well, don’t do self-medication,” he said in an interview.
“The symptoms may come in different forms because the strains may mutate.”
He therefore advised the public to seek help from healthcare facilities rather than attempting treatment without medical guidance.
“When you are unwell, don’t sit at home and do self-medication. Go to a health centre.”
Akandoh added that government has put several interventions in place and encouraged citizens to take advantage of them.
“Take advantage of interventions and let’s adhere to the precautionary measures.”
