The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben North, Hon. Samuel Adongo, has assured residents of the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to addressing the persistent flooding challenges confronting parts of the municipality.
Speaking in an interview with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt Adekyee Mussem on Bryt FM, Hon. Adongo acknowledged that flooding remains a major concern, particularly during the rainy season, causing significant disruption to homes, businesses, and transportation networks.
According to the MCE, the recurring floods are largely attributed to inadequate drainage systems, unauthorized construction on waterways, and indiscriminate disposal of waste into drains and gutters.
He disclosed that the Municipal Assembly has intensified efforts to reduce the impact of flooding through a series of interventions, including the desilting of drains, strict enforcement of building regulations, and public awareness campaigns aimed at promoting proper waste management practices.
Hon. Adongo further revealed that the Assembly is working closely with relevant stakeholders to implement sustainable, long-term solutions, notably the expansion and improvement of drainage infrastructure in flood-prone communities across the municipality.
He appealed to residents to complement the Assembly’s efforts by observing sanitation regulations and refraining from activities that obstruct the free flow of water.
“The fight against flooding is a shared responsibility. We must all play our part to ensure a safer and cleaner environment,” Hon. Adongo stated.
The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly continues to urge residents to remain vigilant during periods of heavy rainfall, assuring the public that measures are being strengthened to effectively address the flooding situation.
